Kavarana Earns 2nd Straight A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — For the second week in a row, Davidson men's tennis freshman Sam Kavarana claimed the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for matches played from Jan. 21-27, as announced today by the league office.
Kavarana helped Davidson (2-0) score its second straight 7-0 shutout win last Sunday against Winthrop with his first career three-set victory by coming back from a set down to earn a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 3.
The freshman from Charleston, S.C., becomes the fourth Wildcat since the program joined the A-10 to win rookie of the week at least twice.
Davidson stays at home to close out a three-match homestand by hosting Presbyterian this Saturday, Feb. 2.
