DAVIDSON, N.C. — For the fourth consecutive year, the Davidson women's tennis team had three players earn Atlantic 10 postseason honors as the league announced its all-conference and academic teams Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Anna Catharine Feaster became the second Wildcat in program history to be a four-time all-conference pick, earning a spot on the first team this year, while sophomore Alexandra Abele was named to the all-second team. Senior Ava Todd earned one of the six spots on the all-academic team.
The trio helped Davidson to another stellar season with a 16-5 overall record, giving them 61 victories in the past four years combined. Assisting the Wildcats to a 16-win season was a season-high 10-match win streak, the second time in the past three years they have had a double-digit win streak. The Wildcats, who went 5-1 in A-10 play, saw their season end in the quarterfinals of the league championship.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Feaster joins Davidson Hall of Famer Dana Casner '99 as the only players to earn first team honors all four years of their playing career. The senior went 9-8 at No. 1 singles this season and closed out her successful four-year career with 52 wins, the fourth-most since 2000. Feaster had another strong season in doubles play, going 13-4 with three different teammates to give her a career record of 57-21.
Following up an impressive freshman season, Abele did not disappoint in her second year by going 15-4 in singles play to tie for the team-lead in wins. She earned 12 of those victories at No. 3 and went 3-0 when playing the No. 2 position this season.
Abele was named A-10 Player of the Week twice this season to give her seven weekly awards for her career. In just two seasons, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native has a career singles record of 31-8 (10-3 vs. A-10). Abele added four doubles wins this year to give her 20 in her young career.
Capping off a very successful career was Todd, who joined Elaina Cummer '16 as the second Wildcat to earn A-10 All-Academic Team honors. The senior from Baltimore, Md., tied Abele for the team lead in wins by going 15-3 to give her double-digit singles victories all four years. Todd, who had winning streaks of six and nine matches, respectively, this year, closed out her career with an outstanding record of 63-17, the most victories dating back to 2000.
Todd was named co-A-10 Player of the Week, April 18, to give her six weekly awards for her career. A two-time all-league performer, the senior went 6-0 in league matches this season to finish her career a perfect 23-0 overall.
The A-10 coaches picked Maria Siopacha of George Washington and Emily Dunbar of Richmond as co-most outstanding performers. Dunbar was named the A-10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, while VCU's Paul Kostin was named the coach of the year.
