Davidson Welcomes Colgate For First Time Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson continues with its three-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts Colgate for the first time in a women's lacrosse contest inside Richardson Stadium.
The Opening Draw Control...
Davidson (2-2, 0-0 A-10) seeks to get back on the winning path when it hosts Colgate (3-2) Saturday at 1 p.m. The Wildcats, who have dropped their last two games, are 1-1 at home so far this season. This three-game homestand they are currently on is the first of two the 'Cats will have this year.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
This is the first time both program's will be playing each other. Colgate's program dates back to 1974. Head coach Heather Young is the program's all-time winningest coach with 96 wins.

Goalie Rose Woolson is slowing climbing into the Wildcats' record books. She moved into seventh in saves entering the season, sitting at 280. She is also in the top-eight in minutes and her current goals against average is third all-time (10.57). Last year she set the program's single season record in groundballs with 67, while her saves total (165) was sixth best.
Weekly Awards...
Feb. 27: Senior goalie Rose Woolson collected Davidson's first Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse weekly award this year when she was tabbed co-defender of the week. Woolson, who shared the award with Saint Joseph's Bridget Cerciello, won her fifth career defensive player of the week honor. She finished the week with 28 saves, six groundballs, two caused turnovers and an 8.50 goals against average between the pipes. The senior from Baltimore, Md., had a stellar week during games against Winthrop and William & Mary. Woolson started the week off by holding the Eagles to five goals and coming up with a 14-save outing to earn the win. She added a season-high four groundballs and caused one turnover. Woolson capped the week off with another 14 saves at William & Mary, helping keep the Wildcats within striking distance before they fell 12-9. She added another two groundballs and forced a turnover.
Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Davidson nearly erased a six-goal second-half deficit before it ran out of time in falling at home to Mercer 13-12 last Sunday. Down 12-6 with over 16 minutes to go, the Wildcats went on a 6-1 run to close within one goal. The final score came with six seconds off the stick of Christine Molinari with the assist going to Shayne Antolini, but the ensuing draw control was won by Mercer to end the game.
Shannon Blee, who scored three of the six goals during the run, finished with a career-high four. Tying Blee was Jordan Wood, who also had a career best. Sarah Kopp matched her personal best with three goals, while Olivia Carey dished out a season-best three assists.
Shayne Antolini pushed her team high assist total to 11 with a pair, while season points leader Molinari had a goal and an assist to give her 16 points on the season.
Last Time Out..
COLGATE— Colgate stormed back with a strong second half to force overtime Tuesday night but the Raiders fell to the No. 22 Cornell Big Red, 11-10, in the extra session. First-year Natalie Gwynn nearly won the game for the Raiders in overtime as she fired a perfect shot but it deflected off the post to keep the game tied before Cornell netted the winner at 12.6 seconds.
Colgate turned up the heat on the Big Red within a span of 2:31 to turn their three-goal deficit into a tie game. Washuta netted her second goal of the half on a free position shot before Haley O'Hanlon brought the Raiders within a goal at 8-7. Gwynn then tied the game 8-8 for the Raiders off a pass from O'Hanlon just 33 seconds after O'Hanlon's goal.
O'Hanlon recorded her fourth consecutive hat trick and added an assist for four points to give her 17 goals and 21 points this season. Gwynn recorded her first career multi-goal game and second career multi-point game.
