
Song Wins Third A-10 Rookie of the Week Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — After leading Davidson to another perfect week, freshman Lindsay Song won her third Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week award, as announced by the league office for matches played from March 12-19.
Song's weekly award gives Davidson its fifth this year. She is the fourth Wildcat since Davidson joined the A-10 to win at least three rookie of the week awards.
A native from Birmingham, Ala., Song kept her perfect season intact by going 2-0 in singles play vs. UMass (W, 5-2) and Wofford (W, 6-1) last week. The freshman from Birmingham, Ala., scored a 6-1, 7-5 home win against the Minutewomen at No. 5 and then gave up just one game in a dominating 6-0, 6-1 decision at Wofford at No. 4.
The two wins moved the freshman to a perfect 10-0 on the season with a 3-0 A-10 record and is 6-0 at No. 5. Song's 10-match win streak is the second-longest on the season behind Alexandra Abele's 11-match streak from Jan. 27-March 11.
Davidson next returns home for an Atlantic 10 match March 22 against Saint Louis.
