Resweber and Relay Set Records on Final Day of A-10s

GENEVA, Ohio – Senior Clay Resweber capped off the final individual race of his career in successful fashion, taking the bronze medal in the 1650 freestyle at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championships at the SPIRE Institute.
Resweber's mark of 15:38.77 sets a new school record, and gives the veteran the medal sweep. He won the 200 freestyle on Friday and took silver in the 500 free on Thursday. He was joined in the event by sophomore Crossan Cooper, who came up fifth overall (15:49.43). Cooper's 1000m split (9:35.77) replaces himself for seventh on the all-time performances list.
The Wildcats turned in a pair of 16th-place finishes in the 200 backstroke; freshman Sarah Helen Shepherd registered a time of 2:03.62 for the women and sophomore Brian Hynes clocked in at 1:50.34. Shepherd's prelim clip of 2:02.86 now ranks her fourth on the Top 10 All-Time Performers list in the event.
Davidson sent five 'Cats into the men's 200 fly finals, led by senior Riley League who placed eighth (1:50.15). Freshman Will Tabor finished 11th (1:50.96), followed right behind by junior Ryan Knohl (12th; 1:51.18) and sophomore Ian Hentenaar (13th; 1:51.28). Hynes scored another point, clocking in at 1:53.57 and finishing in 16th. Tabor's prelim cut of 1:50.68 ranks fifth-best in program history, while Hynes' prelim time of 1:52.54 moves him into 10th.
The trio of seniors Taylor Willenbring and Ari Snyder and junior Matt Bode all competed in the 100 freestyle, as Willenbring finished 11th (45.36), Bode 13th (45.41), and Snyder took 16th (46.12). Bode's prelim cut of 45.56 moves into the top ten all-time in the event.
The freshmen duo of Mitchell Stanek and Drake Wielar also scored in their first championship, as Stanek placed 11th (2:02.95) and Wielar 16th (2:06.36) in the 200 breast. Stanek's time ranks fifth in program-history in the event.
The individual scoring was wrapped up with sophomore Isabella McElrath finishing 16th in the 200 butterfly.
The quartet of Resweber, Willenbring, Snyder, and Bode took fifth overall in the 400 free relay, clocking in at 2:59.70 and setting a new program record in the process. The men finished with a total of 350.5 points in sixth place, while the women totaled 129.5, finishing in 11th.
