Two Medals, Two School Records Highlight Day 3

GENEVA, Ohio – Senior Clay Resweber added another medal to his haul at the Atlantic 10 Championships, this time taking home the gold in the 200 freestyle. He won silver in the 500 freestyle Thursday evening.
His time of 1:36.52 fell just one hundredth shy of the school record, moving him to second-best on the all-time performance list.
The 'Cats did break two school records, as freshman Sarah Helen Shepherd took 10th overall in the 400 IM with a school-best mark of 4:25.17, and senior Riley League broke the mark set last year by his classmate, Taylor Willenbring. League's 100 breast time of 55.12 earned him a seventh-place finish, while Willenbring finished 12th in the event (56.20).
Sophomore Crossan Cooper finally reached the long-awaited podium, taking the bronze medal in the 400 IM on a 3:56.36 clip, bettering himself for second on the all-time performance list. Senior Cole Riggan also bettered himself, recording a lifetime best time of 3:57.99, ranking him third all-time and fifth in the event at the Championships.
Sophomore Isabella McElrath was the lone women's competitor to swim in the A Finals, where she moved into sixth on the all-time list in the 100 fly and came in seventh overall (55.92). She also finished 15th overall in the 400 IM (4:29.27), but ranks fourth all-time in the event after a preliminary swim of 4:27.67. Classmate Olivia Stanley took 13th overall at 56.33, bettering herself for seventh on the all-time list.
Sophomores Alex Strasser and Griffen Younger each scored in the 100 fly, as Strasser took 10th overall and moved into fourth all-time (49.24). Younger finished 15th overall, but now ranks sixth on the performance list (49.96). On the women's side, fellow second-year Frances Resweber took 16th in the 200 free (1:52.46), but bettered herself for 10th on the Top 10 list during her preliminary swim (1:52.24). Senior Sarah Coats came in 11th in the 100 breast (1:04.23), remaining ranked fourth on the all-time list. Sophomore Emily Bassett joined her in the heat, finishing 15th overall (1:05.45) and sliding right behind Coats for fifth on the all-time list with her preliminary mark (1:04.74).
Other scorers include junior Anabelle Durham and sophomore Alexis LeMone in the 100 back, who finished 13th and 16th, respectively. LeMone's prelim time of 56.41 ranks third on the all-time list. Freshman Kevin Andrews took 16th in the 100 backstroke, ranking fourth in the event all-time after a prelim clip of 50.28.
