Resweber Takes Silver to Lead Swimming and Diving on Day 2

GENEVA, OHIO – After narrowly missing the podium a year ago, senior Clay Resweber found redemption on Day 2 of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships, taking the silver medal in the 500 freestyle. With a time of 4:24.83, the Swathmore, Pa., native set a new lifetime best and the second-best mark in program history.
Classmate Cole Riggan, was the one edged out this year, as he clocked in with a new personal-best of 4:28.70 and replaced himself for fourth on the Top 10 all-time list as he took fourth. Sophomore Crossan Cooper joined them, coming in sixth with a time of 4:28.89, ranking fifth all-time.
Veteran Riley League recorded a lifetime best in the prelims of the 200 IM, replacing himself for third in the 200 IM (1:49.17). He finished the evening with an eighth-place spot (1:51.97). Sophomore Patrick Kelly joined the all-time rankings, tying for eighth on the list after his preliminary performance of 1:53.48, and came in 16th overall (1:53.48).
Senior Taylor Willenbring tied for 10th overall in the 50 freestyle (20.73). The quartet of Resweber, Willenbring, classmate Ari Snyder, and junior Matt Bode were also barely edged out, taking fourth in the 200 free relay (1:21.42).
The lone women's finalist on Day 2 was freshman Sarah Helen Shepherd, who won the consolation final of the 200 IM and actually turned in the eighth fastest time in the event, but finished in ninth. Her clip of 2:03.93 was just four tenths from the school record and currently ranks the second-best in program history.
