
Lindsay Song Earns A-10 W. Tennis Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Freshman Lindsay Song claimed Davidson's first weekly award this year by garnering the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, as announced today by the league office for matches played from Feb. 5-11.
Song becomes the seventh player to earn the rookie of the week award since the Wildcats joined the A-10 in 2014-15. Alexandra Abele won it five times last year, while Ava Todd and Anna Catharine Feaster each won it three times during the 2015 season.
A freshman from Birmingham, Ala., Song went a perfect 3-0 last week against Presbyterian and Winthrop at home with a singles win and two doubles victories. She remained perfect in singles after a 6-1, 6-2 triumph against Winthrop in the No. 6 spot, moving to 3-0 on the season.
Song paired with Ally Sexton at No. 3 doubles and registered strong wins of 6-1 each, to push their win streak to a team-best four straight and improve to 4-1 on the season.
Davidson remains at home this weekend when it plays against UNC Wilmington Sunday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.
