DAVIDSON, N.C.  —
Saint Joseph's Chelsea Woods hit a falling away game-winning layup in the lane with five seconds to go and Davidson's last-second shot to tie fell short as it dropped a hard-fought 64-62 decision Wednesday night in Atlantic 10 action inside John M. Belk Arena.

The Wildcats (10-16, 5-8 A-10) had a great look on its last-second shot. Down by two and just five ticks left, Justine Lyon took an inbounds pass and drove to the right side of the lane and let her shot go cleanly, but it rolled off the rim as the final horn sounded.

Lyon led all scorers with 18 points, while adding seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. The junior had 12 points in the final two quarters.

Davidson led 62-60 with two minutes to go before SJU tied it up 30 seconds later. Then with under a minute to go, they had the chance to break the tie when Lyon lost the ball in the lane as she drove in and the Hawks recovered the loose ball to set up their winning shot on the next possession.

Joining Lyon in double figures was Katie Turner with 16 points, nine coming in the fourth quarter. Mackenzie Latt just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Sarah Donovan came off the bench to haul in 12 rebounds, six on offense.

The Hawks (13-12, 8-5, A-10) were paced by Woods' 17 points. Amanda Fioravanti scored 18 points and Adashia Franklyn had 12 points, with both players each pulling in eight rebounds.

Davidson trailed 47-35 in the third quarter before finding its rhythm on offense and closing the quarter on a 11-4 run to make it 51-46.

The momentum was carried into the fourth as the 'Cats took their first lead of the game on a Lyon jumper with 4:37 to cap an 11-3 run for a 57-56 advantage. The Wildcats would twice push its lead out to three over the next few minutes.

The first quarter went to Saint Joseph's, 19-17. Then in the second, the 'Cats trailed by 10 twice before closing the half on a buzzer-beating triple by Kianna Speight to get within 35-28.

Davidson outrebounded the Hawks, 45-38, getting a game-high 19 offensive rebounds. But, it was outscored 40-26 in the paint.

The 'Cats hits the road for its final two road games of the regular season, first playing at UMass this Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.
