DAVIDSON, N.C. — The 2018-19 regular season begins Wednesday evening when Davidson plays host to Queens of Charlotte inside John M. Belk Arena in women's basketball.
The Wildcats (12-18, 7-9 A-10 last year) are opening their season at home for the first time since the 2006-07 campaign when they played UNC Asheville and claimed a 67-55 win.
OPENING TIP: Quick Hits ...
•Davidson is in its 40th season and has collected 433 wins in program history.
•The 'Cats are in their fifth year in the Atlantic 10 after a 21-year run in the SoCon.
•10 letterwinners return and three starters from a year ago, while three freshmen were added.
•Head coach Gayle Coats Fulks is in her second year (12-18) and has a 0-0 record against Queens.
Last Game Out at Richmond, Feb. 27, 2018 ...
•Davidson fell behind early and had to play catch up the rest of the way, before falling 62-53 to Richmond in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Tournament inside the Robins Center.
•Mackenzie Latt scored a team-best 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting and Katie Turner set a new single season record for three-pointers with three on the night to give her 75 for the season as she finished •Justine Lyon came off the bench for 14 points and Ally Welling hauled in a career-high 14 rebounds.
•Davidson trailed by as many as 16 points, but got within 58-53 with 18 seconds left before Richmond sealed the win up with four straight free throws.

•For the third year in a row, the Wildcats placed a player on the preseason team with senior guard Justine Lyon earning her second straight preseason all-second team honors.
•Lyon had another stellar season a year ago averaging 14.6 points a game and became the program's 20th player to reach 1,000 career points.
•Davidson, which was picked 11th with 72 points in the standings.

•The Wildcats are 18-19 overall in home openers (two of the year's results are incomplete) after scoring a 58-50 win last year against UNC Asheville.
•They have gone 11-28 in season-openers after opening the 2017-18 campaign on the road at Western Carolina and picking up a 70-57 win.

•Justine Lyon became the 20th player in program history to reach 1,000 points last year and currently sits in 18th place all-time with 1,035. She is just seven points away from moving up.
