'Cats Host W&M For Post-Thanksgiving Contest Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson will host William & Mary (2-1) in a post-Thanksgiving game Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. inside John M. Belk Arena in women's basketball action.
Saturday's game is part of a two-game homestand for the Wildcats (2-3), as they will also host High Point Monday night. They are in the midst of playing three games in a six-day span.
Opening Tip ...
•Davidson is in its 40th season and has collected 435 wins in program history.
•The 'Cats are in their fifth year in the Atlantic 10 after a 21-year run in the SoCon.
•They were picked 11th in the A-10 preseason poll, while Justine Lyon was named to the preseason all-second team.
•10 letterwinners return and three starters from a year ago, while three freshmen were added.
•Head coach Gayle Coats Fulks is in her second year (14-21) and has a 0-1 record against W&M.
Last Game Out at UNC Asheville, Nov. 21 ...
•UNC Asheville used a 15-4 run at the end of third quarter to break up a close game and Davidson was never able to climb back in it, falling on the road 69-56 Wednesday.
•Davidson had a 39-34 lead in the third quarter with a 10-0 run, but UNCA rattled off the game-changing run in the final five minutes to go up 49-43 heading into the fourth.
•Katie Turner paced the Wildcat offense with 14 points, getting six of them at the charity stripe (6-for-6). Kianna Speight had 12 points and Sarah Donovan added 10, six at the line (6-of-6). Off the bench, Justine Lyon had 10 rebounds to go with eight points.
•Davidson went 17-of-22 from the free-throw line, but shot just 30.9 percent from the floor.
•Down 23-14 with just over five minutes to go in the second quarter, the Wildcats ran off a 12-5 spurt to close the quarter and put them back in the game at the half, 28-26.

•Davidson currently ranks second in free throw percentage (.734), defense field goal percentage (.328) and rebounding (44.0), while holding third place in blocks (5.0) and assists (13.8) per game.
•Katie Turner (8th), Kianna Speight (9th) and Sarah Donovan (10th) all rank in the top-10 in scoring.
•Speight has a league-best 15 threes and Donovan is second in rebounding (9.6 per game).
