'Cats Open Road Trip with Loss at Mason

FAIRFAX, VA. – The Davidson volleyball team was unable to complete the season series sweep over George Mason and took a 3-0 loss Friday night.
The 25-20, 25-22 and 25-18 setback dropped Davidson to 12-11 overall and 5-7 in the Atlantic 10 with two matches to go. The Patriots, who lost 3-1 in Davidson Oct. 14, improved to 9-12 and 7-4.
Currently in sixth place in the league standings, Davidson is seeking a spot in the six-entry A-10 tournament.
Against George Mason, Ciera Cockrell led Davidson with seven kills, while Sydney Champaigne had a team-high 14 assists. Sam Thompson and Josie Treadwell had eight digs apiece.
The Patriots had a .233 to .062 advantage in hitting percentage. Bailey Williams and Katrina Santos led George Mason with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Wildcats, who visit George Washington at 5 p.m. Saturday.
