LEWISBURG, PA. – Freshman Thacher Scannell gave Davidson a win in the 1,650-yard freestyle Sunday and helped the Wildcat men finish second overall among seven teams at the three-day Bucknell Invitational.
Scannell's win, in 15:40.80, was the third win of the weekend for the Davidson men, joining the two victories that came Saturday – Walter Dauksher in the 200 free (1:39.51) and the 800 free relay of Scannell, Dauksher, Ian Hentenaar and Brian Hynes. The Davidson men totaled 1,036 points. Scannell
The Wildcats had two swimmers each in three 'A' finals Sunday, and it helped Davidson climb the team standings. Owen Corkery and Hynes finished third and fifth in the 200 backstroke, while Dauksher and Matt Bode went 4-5 in the 100 free. Mitchell Stanek and Crossan Cooper finished 6-7 in the 200 breaststroke.
Additionally, the 400 free relay team of Dauksher, Hines, Scannell and Bode took fourth, and Hentenaar was sixth in the 200 butterfly.
On the women's side, Davidson finished fifth (702.5 points) among eight teams. Isabella McElrath's sixth-place swim in the 200 fly (2:05.13) was the team's top third-day finish.
