LEWISBURG, PA. – A relay win and a 1-2-3 finish in the men's 200-yard freestyle were the biggest splashes for Davidson on Saturday, the second day of the three-day Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium.
Junior Walter Dauksher was out front in both events. He won the 200 free in 1:39.51 – after posting the top preliminary time – and joined Thacher Scannell, Ian Hentenaar and Brian Hynes on the winning 800 free relay team (6:41.34). Dauksher
Scannell (1:39.63) and Hentenaar (1:41.09) finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 free as the trio earned 87 points in the event.
Also for the Davidson men, Crossan Cooper placed third in the 400 individual medley (4:00.36), while Alex Strasser was fourth in the 100 butterfly (50.51). In the 100 backstroke, Kevin Andrews (50.78) and Hynes (51.16) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. The 200 medley team of Andrews, Drake Wielar, Strasser and Kilian Quinn took fifth (1:32.13).
In the team standings, the Davidson men are tied with Georgetown for third with 665.5 points, and the Wildcat women are fifth with 457 points. In all, 32 Wildcats advanced from the Saturday morning session into A, B and C finals.
Swimming resumes at 10 a.m. Sunday with preliminaries in the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly.
