'Cats Attend a Pair of Tennis Fall Events Over the Weekend

DURHAM/CHAP HILL, N.C. — The Davidson women's tennis team got in a pair of Fall events over the weekend, Oct. 18-21, by taking part in the North Carolina Central Invite on the campus of NCCU and the ITA Carolinas Regional on the campus of North Carolina.
Three Wildcats played at the NCCU Invite, with Alyssa Hahn having a nice run to the finals in the Gray singles flight. She scored a 6-4, 7-5 win over Imma Revert of Campbell and then reached the final match after a well-played 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-6) victory against Zoe Radojici of Charlotte. She was then forced to withdraw after an injury.
Mira Gladstone scored a pair of singles wins after falling in her first round match, while Elizabeth Truluck also earned a singles win against a player from Campbell.
In doubles action, Hahn teamed up with Gladstone and earned a 6-4 win against North Carolina A&T in the Eagles double flight. Truluck and Gladstone also scored a doubles win, a 6-2 decision vs. Campbell.
At the ITA Carolinas Regionals, senior Megan Scholvinck enjoyed a nice run on the consolation side after falling in the main singles draw to a player from N.C. State. She scored a 6-4, 6-2 win against an Elon foe and then reached the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Alisa Diercksen of East Carolina. The senior's run ended with a 6-4, 6-1 setback to a Wake Forest player.
Samantha Armas scored a consolation win against Winthrop's Alya Mourad, 6-3, 6-4.
Scholvinck teamed with Armas in doubles in the main doubles draw to reach the round of 32 with a 8-5 win against a duo from Campbell. The weekend was halted there with an 8-2 defeat to the fifth-seeded team from N.C. State.
Davidson finishes up its Fall season with a trip to the Elon Invitational, Oct. 26-28.
