Volleyball Hosts A-10's "Georges" This Weekend

After a mid-week non-conference win at N.C. Central, the Davidson volleyball team returns to action with two Atlantic 10 home matches this weekend.

George Washington visits Belk Arena Friday at 7 p.m., and the Wildcats host George Mason at 1 p.m. Sunday.
 
League leaders
• Davidson's Ellie Crosley leads the A-10 with a .424 hitting percentage. The sophomore middle hitter from Austin, Texas has had six matches with a hitting percentage of .500 or better, including a high of .647 (12-of-17) vs. Mississippi State Sept. 1.
• Davidson senior Mason Rooney has 22 aces, which ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10.
• Wildcat junior Josie Treadwell is fifth in the league with 4.35 digs per set.
 
Scouting the Colonials
• George Washington won five straight matches in September, but the Colonials enter Sunday having lost their last two, including 3-0 at home against West Virginia on Tuesday.
• The Colonials have a few players among the A-10 statistical leaders. Jaimeson Lee is third in assists per set (9.25), Skylar Iott is fourth in kills per set (3.73), Bella Bowman ranks fifth in digs (277).
 
All-Time Series – George Washington
Friday marks the eighth meeting between the Wildcats and Colonials. George Washington leads the all-time series 5-2, with Davidson's last win coming on Oct. 7, 2016 by a 3-2 margin. George Washington won the only meeting of last year 3-1.
 
Scouting the Patriots
• George Mason enters Friday's road match with A-10 leader VCU having won four straight conference matches, all at home. The Patriots (6-9, 4-1) are third in the A-10 standings.
• George Mason's Catie Espinoza is fourth in the A-10 with 4.47 digs per set, while Peyton Ehmke is fifth in blocks per set (1.07).
 
Series history – George Mason
Sunday's match is the eighth all-time meeting and the seventh since the Wildcats joined the A-10. Davidson trails the series 4-3, which includes a 3-0 loss last year. The Wildcats won both meetings in 2016. The teams will meet again Nov. 2.
