DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson women's swimming and diving will make the short trek to Uptown Charlotte Friday to open their 2017-18 campaign, facing Division II National Champions Queens and Atlantic 10 seven-time champion, Richmond, in a tri-meet held at Queens University. The Wildcat and Royal men will then dive into action Saturday at Cannon Natatorium.
The women will begin their portion of the meet at 5:30 p.m., with the men getting things started at 11 a.m. the following day.
The preseason comes to a close as the A-10 announced the results of its Preseason Poll Tuesday; both the men's and women's squads were picked to finish eighth.
Leading the way for the men is 2016 A-10 Championships medalist Taylor Willenbring, who took home the bronze medal with his school-record setting 50 freestyle. The senior was also a member of the men's 400 freestyle relay that tied the program record at the A-10 Championships. Joining him is classmate Clay Resweber, who narrowly missed the podium, coming in fourth in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events at the A-10s. The duo is joined by 18 returners on the men's side, and 16 on the women's.
This weekend marks the first of seven meets before the Wildcats will head to the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
