DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's tennis team, coming off another strong regular season, will look to carry that momentum into the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship starting Wednesday, April 26, in Orlando, Fla., at the USTA National Campus.
The Wildcats, who went 14-5 during the regular season and 6-2 in league matches, earned the fourth overall seed out of 14 teams. They will be seeking the program's first-ever tournament title after just missing out several times in the Southern Conference.
The 'Cats earned their six league wins against Rhode Island, George Washington, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, George Mason and Dayton.
Davidson will open tournament play vs. 13th-seeded St. Bonaventure (7-16, 1-4 A-10) on Wednesday, with match time set for 9 a.m. If the Wildcats advance, they would take on the winner of fifth-seeded Saint Louis (14-7, 2-3 A-10) and 12th-seeded Saint Joseph's (6-15), Friday at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be Davidson's first matchup against the Bonnies, while it would be its second meeting against the Saint Louis Billikens or the fourth meeting vs. the Hawks of Saint Joseph's should the 'Cats advance. Earlier this year, the Wildcats dropped a 5-2 decision in a neutral site match vs. SLU. They moved to 3-0 all-time vs. the Hawks by scoring a 7-0 win at home, March 12.
A-10 Tournament History
The Wildcats are making their third appearance in the A-10 Tournament after reaching the championship match last year by defeating La Salle (4-0), Duquesne (4-2) and George Washington (4-1). In the final match against VCU, Davidson tried its best in attempting to stop VCU from claiming another title, playing four matches of three sets along with forcing the Rams into four tie-breakers, but the 'Cats eventually fell 4-2.
During their run in the SoCon, which started in 1993, the 'Cats had a 17-16 tournament record. In three of the last 10 league tournaments, they reached the finals, falling to Furman each time.
VCU, which earned the No. 1 seed for the fifth consecutive year, has won the tournament the past four straight seasons, while Richmond has collected eight titles dating back to 2004.
