DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Junior Ava Todd won her 17th straight league match and the Davidson women's tennis team capped off another successful regular season with a 5-2 Atlantic 10 win over Richmond at home Saturday on the Davidson Tennis Courts.
Â
The Wildcats upped their record to 14-5 overall and 6-2 in league play. Since joining the A-10 in 2014-15, they have gone 15-4 against league foes, while winning a total of 44 matches.
Â
Todd moved to 17-0 in her three years in the league by rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles. It was one of five singles wins on the day for the 'Cats to help seal up the team win. The victory was Todd's 57th for her career overall.
Â
Also scoring straight-set singles wins were Anna Catharine Feaster (6-2, 6-3), Megan Scholvinck (6-4, 6-1), Gabrielle Centenari (7-5, 6-1) and Alexandra Abele (6-2, 6-4).
Â
Scholvinck moved to 6-1 in league matches and Abele's win was her team-leading 15th of the season. Centenari gave Davidson its sixth player with double-digit wins on the year, scoring her 10th victory and the 23rd of her career.
Â
It was a battle to start the match in doubles action, with two of the matches going to a tie-breaker. Richmond took the top spot with a 7-4 win in the tie-breaker, but Anna Catharine Feaster and Ally Sexton pulled out a 7-5 win in their tie-breaker at No. 2. The duo moved to 12-6 overall and 6-2 in A-10 matches.
Â
The Spiders took the team point though with a 6-4 victory at No. 3, sending Alexandra Abele and Ava Todd to just their fourth defeat this season.
Â
Davidson will next wait for its seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship, April 25-30, in Orlando, Fla.
