Baseball Suffers First Shutout of Season, Falls 8-0 Friday

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball suffered its first shutout of the season Friday, falling 8-0 to Bucknell at Wilson Field.
The 'Cats were plagued by timely hits in the gap by Bucknell, as the Bison cranked out 13 hits en route to victory. Davidson recorded six hits, led by junior Cam Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with a double. Classmate Andrew Born also doubled.
Bucknell scored twice in the second, and then added four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
The 'Cats threatened in multiple innings, leaving at least one man on in six frames, including two in both the fourth and seventh innings.
Freshman ZJ Zabinski turned in a solid outing of relief, tossing two scoreless innings and striking out three. Classmate Charlie King made his 2017 debut, using just three pitches to get two outs.
Davidson returns to action Saturday at 5 p.m., facing Hartford, who earned their first win of the season, downing Butler 5-2 at Wilson Field this afternoon.
