DAVIDSON, N.C.  —  Davidson kept its home win streak intact, pushing it to six in a row after taking a 5-2 victory Friday afternoon against USC-Upstate in men's tennis on the Davidson College Tennis Courts.

For the third time in the past five years the Wildcats reached the 12-win mark in a season as they improved to 12-4 overall, including 7-1 at home. The six-match home winning streak is the longest since a seven-match streak in 2013.

"It was a great win for the guys today," said head coach Drew Barrett, who collected his 104th victory at Davidson and 144th overall. "That was one of the best teams we've beaten this year. Our doubles play was a huge factor in the victory."

The Wildcats swept all three doubles spots to take the early lead. J.B. Gough and Axel Fries led the way at No. 1, winning their sixth consecutive match and improving to a team-best 12-3 after a strong 6-1 victory.

Shamael Chaudhry and Jack Riazzi netted a 7-5 win at No. 2, and Artem Khrapko along with teammate Ricky Saad sealed the team point up with a 6-4 decision at No. 3.

Three of those players helped Davidson pick up three more points in singles play. Chaudhry reached the double-digit win total on the season with a 7-5, 7-6(3) triumph at No. 1. Khrapko nailed down a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4, while Saad won a pair of tie-breakers, 8-6 and 7-5, at No. 6 for his third win of the season.

David Hager scored the last team point with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 to run his record to 12-3 on the year.

Despite keeping his doubles win streak alive, Fries saw his team and personal-best 12-match win streak come to an end when he fell 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3. It was just the freshman's second defeat on the season as he has a 13-2 record.

Davidson wraps up a three-match homestand by hosting George Mason in an Atlantic 10 match Sunday at 11 a.m.
