Wildcats Wrap Up Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson College men's tennis team concluded action at the home-hosted Davidson Invitational over the weekend at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
The Wildcats picked up victories across both singles and doubles play. In singles action, James Wakefield highlighted Sunday's results with a straight-sets 6-4, 6-2 victory over Queens University of Charlotte's Filippo Scala. Wakefield previously fell to Catawba's Emil Remsted 7-5, 6-0 on Saturday.
Davidson also showcased tough competition in hard-fought three-setters. Kai Villagomez pushed Longwood's Rodrigo Guijarro Martin to the limit in Saturday's semifinals before falling in a tight super tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-1, 14-12. Nicholas Carneiro captured his opening set against Queens' Diego Jimenez Gomez before dropping a 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 decision. Davide Procacci also went the distance on Sunday against Catawba's Emil Remsted, falling 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.
In doubles competition, Davidson picked up a pair of tiebreak wins. The tandem of Kai Villagomez and Davide Procacci earned a 7-6 (4) victory over Queens' Gavin Ryan and Jan Montero Diaz. Additionally, Nikhil Mukherjee and Connor Cole teamed up for a 7-6 (4) victory over Queens' Alejandro Villa Bass and Filippo Scala.
