DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Freshman Axel Fries came back from a set down to win his 12th straight singles match and Davidson cruised to a 7-0 Atlantic 10 win over visiting Saint Joseph's in men's tennis Sunday afternoon inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.

Davidson pushed its season record to 11-4 and won its third A-10 match in four tries, while SJU fell to 4-5 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Fries, a three-time A-10 Rookie of the Week honoree, came back from falling in his first set, 7-5, to roll up 6-0, 6-0 wins in his next two sets and push his singles record to a team-best 13-1, while remaining perfect in A-10 matches at 3-0. The freshman's win streak ties teammates Artem Khrapko's 12 in a row set in 2015.

In addition, Fries teamed with J.B. Gough at No. 1 doubles and the duo continued their outstanding season by scoring a 6-2 win to bump their record to 11-3. They have won the past five matches in a row.

Gough also added a singles win, sealing up a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 5 to see his record go to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in A-10 matches.

Khrapko and Ricky Saad sealed up the doubles point for Davidson by scoring a 6-1 triumph at No. 3 in their first match together this season. Khrapko went on to net a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles for his seventh win.

Winning their second straight singles matches were No. 1 Shamael Chaudhry, coming from a set down (6-4) to win 7-5, 6-1 in the next two sets, and David Hager at No. 2. Hager ran his record to 11-3 after a 6-3, 6-1 win.

Freshman Thomas Mason rounded out the winners on the afternoon with a 7-6, 6-2 triumph at No. 6.

Davidson remains at home and will host USC-Upstate this coming Friday, March 17, at 3:30 p.m.
