Women's T&F Set Two New Records In Indoor Opener

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson set two program records and won three events Saturday at the JDL Open and BU Season Opener Saturday.
Taking her talents to Boston, senior Sarah Sears set the program's indoor record in the 5k with a time of 16:42. Junior Caroline Yarbrough reset the record in the 3k, snapping the tape in (9:46.76), first overall. The Greensboro, N.C., broke her own record of 9:52.11 in winning the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Sophomore Makayla Binter claimed the long jump, marking a meet-best leap of 5.24-meters (17-2.25). Binter stopped the clock in 9.71 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
The Wildcats went 1-2 in the mile run led by Sophia Mills tape-snapping time of 5:03.27. Katie Macturk was second with a time of 5:12.13.
Davidson had a pair of top 10 performers in the 800-meters. Claire Nieusma took fourth (2:19.00), while Eleni Daughters placed sixth (2:19.63).
Other notable performances included Katie Hines 14 th place finish in the 200-meters (26.40) and Grace Loehr's 15th place in the 400-meters (1:00.71)
Davidson returns to the track at the Wake Forest Invite on Saturday, Jan. 20 at JDL Fast Track.
