Distance Runners Highlight Final Day of 49ers Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Davidson women's track & field team wrapped up their opening weekend Saturday at the Charlotte 49ers Classic.
In the 800m, Jocelyn Millican (2:15.87) finished sixth out of 79 competitors, while teammate Katie Deacon (2:16.31) turned in a new personal record to place seventh.
The Wildcats were even more impressive in the 3000 with four runners placing inside the Top-10 highlighted by Gilly Shumate's runner-up finish with a time of 10:11.58.
Justine Meta clocked in with a new PR of 10:34.64 to come home fourth just ahead of teammates Charlotte Moor (10:42.64 / 6th) and Catherine Bonan (10:55.78).
Ashley Rangel, the program's record holder in the shot put, turned in a solid showing with a throw of 13.35m / 43-9 3/4") to finish eighth out of 44.

In addition to competing at the Raleigh Relays (March 26-28), Davidson will host the Davidson Relays next Saturday.
