Swimming Turns in Nearly 20 Top 10 Finishes Friday at TPI

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Davidson swimming turned in nearly 20 top 10 finishes on the second day of the seven-team Total Performance Invite, hosted by Kenyon College. The 'Cats participated in morning preliminaries, with the top 30 qualifiers swimming in the finals Friday evening.
Senior Clay Resweber was the top performer of the day, finishing in fourth place in the 200 free (1:40.22). He paired up with classmate Ari Snyder, freshman Kevin Andrews, and junior Matt Bode to record a sixth-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:24.72). Andrews had a successful day on his own, registering the seventh-best time in school history in the 100 back, clocking in at 50.81 (eighth place). Bode also competed in the 200 free final, finishing in tenth (1:42.05).
The men were also successful in the 200 fly, recording a fifth, seventh, and eighth place spot from sophomores Ian Hentenaar (1:52.66) and Brian Hynes (1:53.20) and senior Riley League (1:53.59), respectively. Hynes also finished ninth in the 100 back (51.66). Classmate Crossan Cooper also turned in two top 10 finishes individually, coming in sixth in the 400 IM (4:03.40) and tenth in the 100 breast (57.98). Senior Cole Riggan joined him in the 400 IM, finishing seventh (4:04.00).
The men's 400 medley relay, consisting of Andrews, Cooper, sophomore Alex Strasser, and Resweber also registered a Top 10 finish, finishing in eighth (3:24.91).
Sophomore Isabella McElrath was the women's top performer, turning in Top 10 finishes in both the 200 fly (8th, 2:08.09) and the 400 IM (10th, 4:35.32). Junior Emily Yang joined her in the fly, coming in ninth (2:10.12), while the duo of senior Sarah Coats and sophomore Emily Bassett each placed in the 100 breast. Coats clocked in at 1:05.11, coming in eighth, and Bassett finished tenth (1:07.00).
The quartet of sophomore Alexis LeMone, freshman Anna Linzell, junior Anabelle Durham, and sophomore Helen Duffy rounded out the top performances, placing sixth in the 200 free relay (1:38.08).
The Wildcats will wrap up the Total Performance Invite Saturday, again competing in preliminaries in the morning before evening finals.
