Swimming and Diving Concludes Dual with GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Davidson swimming and diving wrapped up its final dual meet of 2017, combining for 41 Top 3 finishes against Atlantic 10 foe George Washington in our nation's capital Saturday morning.
The women's squad pulled off two event sweeps and 21 Top 3 performances, while the men logged 20 Top 3 finishes. The women were defeated by a score of 174-115, while the men fell 169-124.
The two squads will next dive into action in Gambier, Ohio, for the Total Performance Invitational sponsored by Kenyon College.
WOMEN
The trio of Sarah Coats, Isabella McElrath, and Emily Yang each took first in individual events (100 breast; 1:06.95, 100 fly; 59.08, 200 IM; 2:12.86). Coats finished on each slot of the podium, recording a second place in the 200 breast (2:27.30) and third in the 200 IM (2:14.45), while McElrath added two thirds (200 fly (2:10.56), 200 breast (2:30.07)).
Coats has won either the 100 or 200 breast event in each of the Wildcats' meets this season.
The quartet of sophomores Alexis LeMone and Olivia Stanley, junior Anabelle Durham, and freshman Anna Linzell also recorded the top spot, clocking in at 3:42.24 in the 400 free relay.
LeMone added to her day with a second-place finish in the 100 free and a third in the 100 back (55.24, 1:01.51), while classmate Stanley took second in the 100 fly (1:01.89) and touched in a tie with Linzell for third in the 50 free (25.51).
Senior diver Hayley Atkins also contributed, taking second in the 3-meter event by less than a point (238.28) and third in the 1-meter (231.53).
MEN
The men's fleet recorded five individual firsts, led once again by the trio of veterans Clay Resweber and Taylor Willenbring and sophomore Crossan Cooper. Resweber and Willenbring secured the 50, 100, and 200 free events (21.41, 46.82, 1:42.51), while Cooper took the top spot in the 200 breast (2:10.41).
Resweber and Cooper nearly pulled off the freestyle event sweep, as each took home second in the 500 and 1000, respectively (4:46.54, 9:39.77). Cooper's mark in the 1,000 was the ninth-best mark in program history, where he also ranks seventh. He also recorded a third place finish in the 200 IM (1:57.06).
Fellow sophomore Ian Hentenaar also delivered, winning the 200 fly (1:55.88), while seniors Riley League and Trey Harris also contributed, taking second in the 100 breast and 100 fly events (1:00.17, 51.07). Freshman Will Tabor also recorded a second-place spot (200 fly; 1:56.43).
The men's relays took second and third in both the 200 medley and 400 free to aid their efforts.
