Wrestling Drop Home Opener to Limestone, 22-15

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Despite a fast start with four consecutive decision victories to open the match, wrestling fell in the home opener to Limestone in a non-conference dual at Belk Arena, 22-15.
With the loss Davidson falls to 1-3 in duals, while with the win Limestone improves to 1-0 overall.
Prior to the match, Davidson head coach Andy Lausier signed Bailey Frair to the team as part of the TeamImpact program.
The Wildcats got things going at 157-pounds with Tony Palumbo. The junior Pittsburgh, Pa., native trailed most of the match, but a late takedown as time expired swayed the decision his way, 3-2. In the ensuing bout at 165, sophomore Hunter Costa battled until the final horn and won the decision with a nearly spot on 1:00 of riding time to break the 3-3 tie, 4-3.
Sophomore's Noah Satterfield (174) and Conor Fenn (184) each added convincing decision wins and pushed the 'Cats lead out to 12-0.
Limestone's Matt Rudy got his team on the board with a major decision at 197-pounds as the Saints rattled off 22 straight points.
Senior Dustin Runzo (133) and junior Aidan Conroy (149) closed out the match for Davidson. Runzo fell in a well-fought 6-5 decision, while Conroy outlasted Nick Leitten for the second time this season, 11-6.
Davidson returns to the mat Saturday, Dec. 2 for a Southern Conference dual with Chattanooga. First bout from Belk is slated for 2 p.m.
