DAVIDSON, N.C.  — In a Saturday non-conference women's basketball game inside John M. Belk Arena, Davidson fought back from a double-digit deficit and went down to the wire before falling at home to Princeton, 63-57, in front of a crowd of 523 over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The Wildcats (3-3) overcame a 15-point hole in the second quarter by opening the third quarter on a 14-2 run to go up 39-36 before ending the quarter tied at 48-all. The Tigers though would use a 10-2 run to start the fourth quarter and held off a late charge by the 'Cats to secure the win.

Twice Davidson was within three (58-55 & 60-57) in the final 1:19, but Princeton answered each time with a bucket of its own on its ensuing possessions.

Justine Lyon scored all 19 of her points in the final two quarters to pace Davidson. She scored 12 of those points in the third quarter and the Wildcats outscored the Tigers 23-14 in the quarter. Twice the junior gave the Wildcats the lead before draining a three-ball at the top of the key to close out the third quarter for a 48-all tie.

Senior Mackenzie Latt had a solid game all-around, scoring a season-high tying 14 points to go with five rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Katie Turner scored nine points, hauled in a season-high six rebounds, dished out four assists and pocketed two steals.

Princeton (3-1) had three double-figure scorers with Bella Alarie recording a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Abby Meyers had 13 points off the bench, Carlie Littlefield scored 11 and Leslie Robinson hauled in 10 rebounds.

Meyers hit a clutch running layup under the basket with the shot clock running down to make to 62-57 with 17 seconds left in the game.

Davidson fell behind 14-2 in the first quarter and then trailed 23-8 at the eight-minute mark in the second quarter. The Wildcats then went on a 15-4 run, sparked by Ally Welling's six points, to get within 27-23 before heading into halftime down 34-25.

Princeton pulled in 46 rebounds to Davidson's 32, but the Wildcats dominated in the paint by scoring a season-high 32 points. They also scored 18 points off of the Tigers' 23 turnovers.

The Wildcats turn around and hit the road, playing at William & Mary Monday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m.

GAME NOTES: This was just the third meeting all-time dating back to 2010-11 season between both teams … Princeton leads the series 3-0 … both teams were playing each other for the first time since the 2011-12 season … Justine Lyon has scored in double figures in 26 of her the last 29 games overall dating back to last season … Mackenzie Latt moved up in the all-time record book in steals (13th, 154), blocks (7th, 86) and points (10th, 1,198) ... the Wildcats had their three-game home winning streak snapped.
