WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Davidson volleyball slipped to 8-12 (1-6 A-10) on the season after falling 3-1 to George Washington Saturday. The Colonials improve to 7-16 (3-4 A-10) after winning by scores of 25-8, 22-25, 25-13, 25-13.
Junior Katharine Franz led the offense, posting eight kills, while George Washington had three Colonials in double-figures.
"I'm proud of our players' resilience and ability to bounce back," head coach Chris Willis said. "We need to continue to show grit and execution as we prepare for next weekend."
After stalling in the opening set, the 'Cats rebounded in Set 2. After trailing by as many as five points, a late-set surge propelled Davidson, which collected 10 of the last 13 points, including three nearly in a row by junior Ciera Cockrell, to take the frame.
Cockrell finished the contest with seven kills, while classmate Mason Rooney and freshman Ellie Crosley added six.
Davidson remains on the road next weekend, traveling to Rhode Island and Fordham for rematches.
