OLEAN, N.Y. — St. Bonaventure put four scorers in double figures as Davidson dropped a Wednesday evening Atlantic 10 women's basketball contest on the road, 70-51, on the hardwood inside the Reilly Center.
The Wildcats fell to 3-17 overall and 1-7 in A-10 play, while the Bonnies won its third straight to move to 9-12 overall and 4-5 in league action.
Trailing by as many as 23 points, Davidson was able to cut the deficit all the way to 11 late in the third quarter but that was as close as it would get.
SBU's Matea Britvar had 14 points, while Gabby Richmond, Mariah Ruff and McKenna Maycock each scored 13 points.
Justine Lyon reached the double-digit mark for Davidson with 12 points and Melanie Ransom added a career-best 11 points off the bench. Senior Rachel Piles filled the stat sheet with a career-high 16 rebounds to go with five points and two blocks.
Junior Mackenzie Latt, who came with the fourth-best scoring average in the A-10 (16.2), was held to nine points. She did haul in six rebounds, block two shots and pocket three more steals to give her 18 in the past three games.
Lyon tallied six points in the opening quarter, but it was not enough as St. Bonaventure led 15-10 after the first 10 minutes.
The Bonnies pushed its lead out to 10 (26-16) on a Ruff three-pointer with 6:58 to go in the second quarter. She hit one more triple later to give her 10 points for the quarter and Davidson was held to just a Ransom jumper in the lane in the final six minutes of the quarter as it headed into halftime down 39-18.
SBU shot 62.5 percent for the quarter and finished at 42.9 percent overall. Davidson was held to 37.7 percent shooting for the game.
Behind Piles' four points and Latt's five, the 'Cats opened the third on a 12-5 run to make it 45-30 with 5:47 left. Later a three-ball from Ransom on the left wing brought the 'Cats within 11 at 49-38 before the quarter ended with the Bonnies leading 54-40. Davidson shot 53.3 percent for the quarter, including draining three shots from downtown.
The 11-point deficit would be the closest Davidson got as St. Bonaventure pushed its lead back out to 23 in the fourth quarter.
Davidson returns home for the start of a two-game stay beginning Saturday against Richmond at 2 p.m.
GAME NOTES: This was the third meeting all-time between the two schools women's basketball programs … the Bonnies now lead 3-0 in the series … Latt career-best 16-game double-figure scoring streak came to an end … she averaged 17.6 points and 8.7 rebounds during the streak … the junior moved into 12th place all-time in scoring with 1,091 points.
