SEATTLE, Wash. – Davidson concluded its trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 4-0 setback at Seattle in non-conference men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Championship Field.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-5-0 on the season, while the Redhawks improve to 4-3-0.
Seattle, which advanced to the Sweet 16 last season, got scores from four different players, including David Olsen, who let the nation in goals a year ago.
In addition to his 77th minute score, Olsen set up Julio Rubio's goal late in the first half. Jeff Rose (6:41) and Medo Youseff (84:28) also found the back of the net for the Redhawks, while Ozzie Ramos had a pair of assists.
Despite the loss, Davidson held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Seattle entered the 2016 season ranked 14th in the NSCAA Top-25.
Head Coach Matt Spear's Postgame Comments
"We lost to a very good team that was sharp in front of goal today. But we did not have the collective energy to push them. We got forward at times and earned eight corner kicks, but our precision and fight in the 18 were insufficient."
"They were really good and play an attractive, passing brand of soccer. I give Pete Fewing a lot if credit as Seattle has a tremendous soccer pedigree including past NCAA Championships."
"We can't point to the overtime loss on Friday or long travel as excuses - we just need to be stronger."
"We do really appreciate the trip's experience. Seattle is a great city and we faced top competition. We must harness the moments and continue to rise. We will have an important week to rest first, then, get rolling for a key home game next weekend."
