CHARLOTTE, N.C.  — Playing its third match of a five-match road trip to close out the regular season, Davidson dropped a 5-2 decision Friday afternoon to cross-county rival Charlotte in a non-conference women's tennis match.

The Wildcats, who are now 17-13 all-time in the series vs. the 49ers (7-9), fell for the second consecutive match after rattling off an 11-match win streak as their record moved to 14-4.Â

In doubles action, the lone team to score a win was Anna Catharine Feaster and Alley Sexton at No. 1 by the score of 6-4. The duo ran their record to 13-2, collecting their 30th win overall together in just two seasons.

Charlotte took the other two doubles positions by the scores of 6-4 and 6-2. It then captured singles wins at No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 for the team victory.

Feaster collected one of the Wildcats' points by winning her fifth match in a row at No. 1 with a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) win. The sophomore is 11-5 on the year.

The other team point came from freshman Megan Scholvinck at No. 4. She scored a 6-0 win the first set before falling 6-1 to force the final set. The first-year player picked up her ninth win by closing out the match with a 6-3 victory.

Seeing their personal singles winning streaks come to an end was Gabrielle Centenari and Jenna Brunner at No. 2 and 5 positions. The freshman Centenari had a three-match win streak halted after a 6-2, 6-3 defeat. Brunner's perfect record in singles action came to an end after she was blanked 6-0, 6-0 for her first defeat in seven matches.

Davidson takes the weekend off before head to Spartanburg, S.C., to face Wofford, April 12 at 3 p.m.
