DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Senior Emma Sissman had her second straight hat trick, but it was not enough to carry Davidson as Saint Joseph's used a late run in second half to pull away for a 10-8 win on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Richardson Stadium in Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse action.

Sissman had gotten the 'Cats (4-5, 1-1 A-10) to within one, 7-6, with an impressive rebound-goal off her saved free position shot five seconds prior at the 12:27 mark. But, the Hawks answered with a 4-0 run over the next five minutes to take a 10-6 lead and Davidson was only able to get two more goals the rest of the way.

The senior attacker finished the weekend with seven goals to give her 23 on the year to go with 25 points. Annie Brockett recorded two goals to tie her season best, while Christine Molinari registered to three points on a goal and two assists to give her 22 points, including a team-best 14 assists.

Kendall Thielemann and Morgan Burch each scored once, while Lucy Sexton picked up an assist.

For the Hawks (2-8, 1-1 A-10), Rebecca Lane had five points on four goals and an assist. Mallory Grey had two goals and an assist, Nora McCallion picked up two goals and Maggie Egan dished out two assists.

Down 2-2, Sissman found the back of the net twice on assists from Sexton and Molinari to tie the game up with 13:40 left in the first half. Molinari then capped the 3-0 run by Davidson with a goal of her own for a 3-2 lead.

Saint Joseph's, behind Lane's two goals and an assist, rattled off four straight goals from the 9:21 mark to the 3:58 mark in the first half to grab a 6-3 lead and erase the 'Cats advantage. A Brockett goal with 27 ticks left in the half made it 6-4 before halftime.

The second half started out with both teams trying to control possession before the Hawks made it 7-4 with over 12 minutes gone by.

Davidson got some momentum going finally with 13:40 on the clock when Burch got a pass in the middle from Molinari and found the back of the net to make it 7-5. Then just a little over a minute later, Sissman tallied her hat trick with the rebound-goal to get within 7-6.

Down 10-6, Thielemann recorded her second goal of the year on a free-position shot with 2:16 left. The Wildcats final goal came with 58 seconds on Brockett's second score of the game.

Both teams fired off 24 shots each, while SJU had a 19-15 edge on groundballs. Davidson won the battle on draw controls at 13-7, with Sissman and Sarah Kopp pulling in three each.

Maddy Sivilli caused a career-high three of the Wildcats' six caused turnovers, while adding three groundballs. Goalie Dana Stasieluk finished with six saves after an 11-save effort in Friday's win.

The 'Cats hit the road for a pair of A-10 games at George Washington and George Mason, April 8-10.
