Freshmen Duo Lead Wildcats to Season-Low

RALEIGH, N.C. – In addition to Davidson carding a season-low 289 to climb two spots up the leaderboard, freshmen Jack Lang (79-74-70 = 223) and Mike Blasey (81-76-70 = 227) fired personal-best rounds of one-under 70 to lead the Wildcats on the final day of the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate hosted by NC State.
The two-day event was played on the Par 71, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf layout.
Along with the host Wolfpack, the 17-team field featured Chattanooga, Columbia, Davidson, ETSU, Elon, Francis Marion, George Mason, Loyola-Maryland, Manhattan, Middle Tennessee State, Penn, Richmond, South Florida, VCU and Virginia.
Senior David Sargent (73-71-76 = 220/T-22nd) recorded his third Top-25 finish in the last four outings to lead the Wildcats on the individual leaderboard.
As a team, Davidson posted the fifth lowest round of the day to finish 12th with a 54-hole total of 889 (304-296-289).
The Wolfpack (-21) claimed the team title by eight strokes over South Florida (-13), while NC State's David Cooke (-15) edged Adrian Meronk (-13) of ETSU for the individual crown.
