DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Elon's Sloane Kessler recorded seven points, including four in the first half and Davidson was unable to come back from a five-goal halftime deficit in getting doubled up 12-6 Saturday afternoon inside Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse action.

The Wildcats fell to 3-4 and are 2-3 on their season-long seven-game homestand. Elon moved to 6-3 on the season and won its second in a row in the series after doubling up the 'Cats last year, 10-5.

Kessler registered game highs of four goals and three assists to pace seven Phoenix goal scorers. She picked up three goals and an assist in the first half alone, helping Elon build a 6-2 advantage.

Elon's Abby Godfrey and Anna Vitton had two goals each, and Nicole Sinacori earned a goal and an assist.

Senior Emma Sissman led Davidson with two goals to give her a team-best 16 on the season, while she added her first assist of the year. Christine Molinari pushed her team high assist total to 12 with a pair of helpers and added her seventh goal of the year. She leads the team with 19 points overall.

Lucy Sexton recorded two goals and Jean Atkinson had one, while Annie Brockett picked up an assist.

After Elon jumped out to a 2-0 lead with nearly four minutes having passed in the game, Sexton got Davidson on the board with a free-position goal at the 25:03 mark.

It would be as close as the Wildcats would get, as the Phoenix outscored them 5-1 in the final 20 minutes of the half. Sissman made it 4-2 with 17:46 on the clock off an assist from Molinari, but Elon closed the half with three straight goals. Kessler got a goal and an assist in the 3-0 run.

Sissman and Molinari would hook up again for a score, this time by the sophomore Molinari, with just under 26 minutes left in the second half to make it 9-3.

Then down 11-3, Davidson tried to mount some offense with Sissman and Molinari getting together for the third time to make it 11-4 with 21:37 left. It would be the only score though for the Wildcats until the 5:10 mark, as Elon's defense halted several of their offensive possessions.

The final two scores of the game came off the sticks of Sexton from Brockett and Atkinson.

Elon held advantages in shots (23-17) and groundballs (18-15), while both teams picked up 10 draw controls each.

Davidson forced a season-high eight turnovers, led by Nicole Pettiglio's season-best two. She also tied goalie Rose Woolson with three groundballs. Defender Holly Thomas had a groundball, two draw controls and a forced turnover.

Woolson and Dana Stasieluk split time between the pipes, with Woolson getting six of the Wildcats' nine saves.

The 'Cats take a little Easter break before starting Atlantic 10 play, April 1-3, by hosting La Salle and Saint Joseph's.
