DAVIDSON, N.C. – Senior David Sargent finished a personal-best tied for fourth to lead the Wildcats at the 2016 Davidson College Invitational, Tuesday at River Run Country Club.
Sargent, who entered the final round tied for second, posted a two-day/54-hole total of 225 (77-71-77). Teammate Hoke Carlton played as an individual and placed tied for ninth out of 42 competitors.
Davidson's Alex Nianouris also finished inside the Top-15 at 231 (79-78-74).
As a team, the Wildcats finished in sixth place at 927 (308-301-318).
For the second consecutive year, Charlotte (302-301-299 = 902) captured the team title. Cleveland State (305-299-306 = 910) finished second, while Radford (307-306-300 = 913) took third.
Charlotte's Thomas Rowland claimed individual medalist with a 54-hole total of 216 (E). Gardner-Webb's Chris Jones (75-73-75 = 223) came home runner-up, seven shots off the pace.
Along with the host Wildcats, the seven-team field featured Charlotte, Cleveland State, Gardner-Webb, Marshall, Queens and Radford.
The event will be played on the Par 72, 7,208-yard River Run Country Club layout.
