Golf Opens Spring Slate Monday; A-10 Poll Released

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll, the Davidson men's golf team will open their 2016 spring campaign at the Atlantic 10 Match Play Championship on Monday at Weston Hills Country Club in Weston, Fla.
About the A-10 Match Play Championship | BRACKET (PDF)
The two-day event will feature eight of the 11 conference members. Teams will play six matches, earning one point for victory and a half point for a tie. The team with the most points will advance to the Championship side of the bracket. In the event of a tie, the winning team will be decided by the most overall holes won collectively as a team.
Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll
VCU received 11 first-place votes in the poll and has been selected to repeat as Atlantic 10 Champions in the 2016 preseason poll, as voted on by the league head coaches.
Richmond, last year's runner-up, was picked second in the poll ahead of Rhode Island and Dayton.
Davidson, which tallied 83 points was picked fifth, followed by George Mason at sixth (65 points), George Washington at seventh (47 points) and La Salle (39 points). Saint Joseph's, St. Bonaventure and Fordham rounded out the poll, respectively.
Freshman Mike Blasey led the Wildcats in the fall with a 73.50 stroke average. He was followed by senior David Sargent, who posted a 74.54 stroke average in four tournaments.
