DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to Will Robertson going 2-for-4 with three RBI and his first career home run, Davidson's Durin O'Linger tossed six scoreless innings to lead the Wildcats to a 5-0 victory over Buffalo Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
O'Linger, who missed the entire 2015 season due to injury, allowed just three hits and struck out two en route to his second career victory.
Senior Lee Miller gave Davidson (2-0) a 1-0 lead in the opening inning with his first of two doubles on the day, scoring Andrew Pope, who led off with a single.
Robertson's two-run shot in the fourth made it 3-0, before the Wildcats put the game out of reach with two more runs in the eighth, thanks to RBI doubles from Miller and Robertson.
Westin Whitmire, who pitched the final two innings, picked up the save for Davidson, which limited Buffalo (0-2) to just five hits.
The Bulls' Brandow Mumaw suffered the loss, giving up three runs over seven innings pitched.
Davidson will close its season-opening weekend with a 1:30 p.m. first pitch against Air Force Sunday. Both teams sit 2-0 on the season.
