GAMBIER, Ohio – Senior Elise Lankiewicz continued her weekend trend, breaking her third school record in as many days to lead Davidson swimming and diving on their final day of competition at the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College. The men and women each finished fifth as a team.
Lankiewicz, who already broke two records on the first two days, also set a new meet and facility record, taking the 100 butterfly title at a 53.52 time. The previous record was held by Emily Castle '11 (CCSA '11, 54.46).
The Wilmington, Del., native, who has already been named an Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week twice this season, also set a new team top time this season in the 500 freestyle at 4:47.47, which she set in the morning prelims before scratching the event final. Lankiewicz concluded her day with another first place, clocking in at 49.95 in the 100 free, yet another top time for the squad this year.
Classmate Erica Clancy finished sixth overall in the 100 free with a new season-best time of 51.91, and freshman Isabella McElrath took eighth overall in the 200 breaststroke, turning in the fifth-best time on the All-Time Performances Lists (2:21.50).
The quartet of Lankiewicz, Clancy, classmate Kassie Shannon and sophomore Maggie Farrell set a new top-time this season in the 400 free relay, taking third overall (3:25.95).
On the men's side, junior Taylor Willenbring finished ninth overall in the 100 free (46.32). His prelims time of 45.86 was a new team-best for the event this season. He was joined by classmates Clay Resweber and Ari Snyder, and sophomore Jake Perron to take ninth overall in the 400 free (3:05.87). They, too, set a new top-time for the team this year in prelims, registering a mark of 3:05.13.
11 different new team-bests were recorded during the day, while 46 season-bests were set.
The Wildcats will return to the pool next year, welcoming UNCW for dual-meet action on January 13.
