Season Rewind
The A-10 Championship will mark the fifth meet for the Wildcats this season. Davidson opened the season with a second place finish at the Richmond Preview, also at Pole Green Park, but just a sneak peak as it was only a 5k.
Senior Will Brewster took home the win, snapping the tape in 15:07.1. The 'Cats placed four runners in the top-11, including senior Walker Mogen (15:28.9), junior Ramsay Ritchie (15:29.4) and freshman Sam Thomas (15:36.8).
Brewster raced in the opening three meets of the season and claimed the team's top spot in them all. He crossed the line in 31st in a deep field at the Commodore Classic and backed it up with a 10th place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic.
With a bulk of the top runners resting at the VertCross Invitational, sophomore Dylan Carmack stepped up and turned in a fifth place performance, completing the 8k in 25:14.2.
Preseason Coaches' Poll
Back before the first starting gun of the season went off, the Wildcats were tabbed to finish second by the A-10 coaches as released in the yearly preseason poll. Returning champs, Saint Joseph's, earned the league's top spot. La Salle, Massachusetts and George Mason rounded out the top-five teams.
Scouting the Field
Davidson comes in ranked 11th in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region poll posted on Oct. 17. Joining the 'Cats in the ranks are George Mason, 12th in the Southeast, Dayton 10th in the Greats Lakes, and Mid-Atlantic region members La Salle (7), Saint Joseph's (10) and Duquesne (12).
2015 A-10 Championship Recap
Placing three runners in the top-15 places propelled the men's cross country team to a third place finish at the 2015 A-10 Championship race at Pole Green Park. Returning senior Will Brewster led the Wildcat pack, crossing the line in ninth overall with a time of 24:54.2. Recent graduates, Ryan Phillips and Daniel Samet also earned All-Conference honors for their high finishes. Walker Mogen (25:19.2) and Dylan Carmack (25:25.8) rounded out the scorers for Davidson with 32nd and 38th place finishes, respectively.
Coach Waldron on A-10 Championship
"I think we're going to run really well. I always say we can't control what other teams do, we're not under control whether we can win a race, we could run great. What we are in control of is our performance and our behavior and we think that if we put it together and do what we're supposed to do, we're going to be a tough team to beat."
Up Next
Davidson will travel to Charlottesville, Va., to compete at the 2016 NCAA Southeast Regional Meet Friday, Nov. 11. The meet, hosted by Virginia, will be held at Panorama Farms.
