
Mogen Paces Men's XC at A-10 Championship

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Senior Walker Mogen earned a third place finish to pace the men's cross country to a seventh place result at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship Saturday at Pole Green Park.
Mogen broke away in a group of six runners midway through the race and was able to shed half the pack around the mile to go marker. Mogen, Rico Galassi of Duquesne and Hunter Johnston of Dayton traded the lead over the final 1609 meters, but it was Galassi who held off the field. Mogen entered the chute in 24:48.2 and earned A-10 All-Conference honors for his efforts.
"Walker was our bright spot today. It was great to see him be tough and compete for the win," said head coach Renny Waldron. "He has been a great captain this season and has led on and off the course."
Davidson registered 184 points, tying with Fordham for seventh place. Dayton claimed the team title, while Duquesne and Saint Louis rounded out the top-three squads.
"This was a tough one to swallow... we certainly didn't run to our potential today," said head coach Renny Waldron.
Davidson senior Will Brewster was the next 'Cat across the line, turning in the 28th best performance in 25:35.6. Sophomore Dylan Carmack followed it up in 35th with a time of 25:42.6. Freshman Sam Thomas (25:51.8) and sophomore Will Jones (26:40.2) were the final Wildcat scorers.
Davidson next toes the line at the NCAA Southeast Regional Meet Friday, Nov. 11 iat Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va.
