DAVIDSON, N.C. — Day one of the Davidson men's tennis Invitational is in the books as the Wildcats played doubles matches Friday afternoon at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
The duo of Shamael Chaudhry and J.B. Gough picked up a pair of wins at No.1 to total 16 points on the afternoon. They downed a pair from Campbell in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (5), and then cruised to a 6-1 victory vs. Gardner-Webb's top team.
At No. 3, Jordan Hart and David Hager earned a nice 6-1 triumph vs. Campbell to give them four points. Earning two points vs. Campbell was Artem Khrapko and freshman Thomas Mason, with a 6-4 triumph and playing at No. 4 doubles.
In a doubles match against Gardner-Webb at No. 3, the combo of Artem Khrapko and Ricky Saad picked up a 6-3 victory.
In the same match, the team of Jordan Hart and Mason picked up a 6-3 triumph against the Runnin Bulldogs' No. 4 team to give them two points.
Khrapko teamed up with Rose at No. 4 to give the Wildcats their lone doubles win vs. USC-Upstate, netting a 6-4 decision for two points.
The invitational is a points system, with points being determined based on position. The No. 1 singles position is worth 16 points and going two points down at each position to No. 8, which is worth two points. The top doubles spot is worth eight points, then going down to No. 4, which is worth two.
Day two of the Invite is set for Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
