Bertucci, Runzo Lead 'Cats in Loss to Chattanooga

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Camden Bertucci and Dustin Runzo earned victories as the Wildcats fell to Southern Conference foe Chattanooga, 37-9, at John M. Belk Arena Sunday afternoon.
Davidson falls to 4-10 overall and 0-2 in Southern Conference action, while Chattanooga improves to 10-3 and 5-0 in league action.
Camden Bertucci registered his first career pin at 125 pounds. Bertucci registered a takedown and reversal in the first period before pinning Toribbio Navarro at the 2:01 mark to put the Wildcats ahead, 6-0.
Dustin Runzo padded Davidson's lead with a sudden victory decision over Cody Hill at 133 pounds. Hill chose bottom to start the third period and evened the score with a quick escape. Runzo responded with a takedown, before a penalty point and another Hill escape forced overtime. In the first overtime frame, Runzo registered his second takedown to secure his match.
The Wildcats return to the mat, Feb. 3 with a trip to Lexington, Va., to take on SoCon rival VMI. The dual is slated for 7:30 p.m.
