Sargent Paces ‘Cats at Rain-Shortened Primland Invite

MEADOWS OF DAN, Va. – Senior David Sargent paced the Davidson golf team with a Top-25 finish at the Primland Collegiate Invitational hosted by Wake Forest.
Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the event was shortened to 36 holes due to heavy rain and unplayable conditions on the Par 72, 7,053-yard Primland Resort layout.
In addition to the host Demon Deacons, this year's field included Auburn, Davidson, Loyola (Md.), North Carolina, Penn State, Pepperdine, Virginia Tech and Yale.
Sargent, a member of the A-10 all-conference squad a year ago, finished tied for 23rd at 147 (72-75).
North Carolina (-18) fired consecutive rounds of 9-under 279 to claim the team title by five shots over Auburn (283-280 = 563).
The Tigers' Michael Johnson (64-65 = 129) set a new school 36-hole record to win the individual crown.
