DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson looks to keep its winning ways going as the women's soccer team returns home after a two-game road trip last week to faceoff against Francis Marion Saturday evening under the lights.
The Matchup
Davidson (3-5) closes out its non-conference schedule this Saturday evening, Sept. 26, with a 7 p.m. game against Francis Marion at Alumni Stadium.
The All-Time Series/Last Meetings
The Wildcats hold a 3-0 lead in the all-time series vs. the Patriots. The two schools last met in 2013 when Davidson earned a 4-3 victory on the road to give head coach Greg Ashton his 100th win at Davidson.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson is riding a two-game win streak after earning wins at Wofford and Georgia State last weekend ... the victory Friday vs. Wofford was an impressive one as the 'Cats tied the game up in regulation with less than 10 seconds left and then scored the game-winner in the second overtime with one second remaining ... Sunday, Davidson rolled to a 3-1 win vs. the Panthers to remain unbeaten on the road at 3-0 ... senior Vicky Bruce had a stellar weekend, scoring the game-winner on Friday night and then picking up two assists in Sunday's win ... she was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for her performance ... Bruce has a team-best eight points, four of them on assists ... Kate Joss, Jenni Isaac and Ashley Finke each scored in Sunday's win ... defender Dani Johnson scored the tying goal Friday to give her two goals on the season ... Isaac, Finke and Sarah Tuggle have a goal and an assist on the year ... goalkeeper Kendall Thomas has started the last four games, picking up a pair of wins and 18 saves ... Davidson has outshot its opponents in six of the eight games this year ... the 'Cats recorded a season-high 23 shots vs. N.C. State and then took 22 Friday at Wofford ... they are averaging 13.6 shots a game ... head coach Greg Ashton picked up his 180th career win and 109th at Davidson with the win at Ga. State ... he is 10 wins away from becoming the program's all-time winningest coach ... the Wildcats enter their second year in the Atlantic 10 ... the 'Cats return 16 letterwinners, including eight starters ... they welcome 11 newcomers to this year's team ... Davidson was picked to finish 13th in their second year in the A-10 after going 2-5-1 in its first go-around.

Francis Marion is 2-10 on the season after Wednesday's 5-0 defeat vs. Clayton State on the campus of USC Aiken ... prior to that game, the Patriots played at the VMI Tournament last weekend and went 1-1 vs. Hampton and VMI ... Kelly Anthony paces the offense with five goals and two assists for 12 points ... Janise Finney had a team-best three assists ... goalkeeper Taylor O'Berry has started all 12 games ... she has a 3.30 goals against average and 79 saves ... FMU returns 12 letterwinners, including eight starters ... it went 3-12-1 a year ago, winning three of its final six games ... the Patriots are entering their 11th year competing at the Divison 1 level ... head coach Lindsey Morgan is in her first season.
