Wildcats Run By High Point, 17-4, Wednesday Night

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Four Wildcats with three hits or more led the Davidson baseball team past the High Point Panthers, 17-4, Wednesday night at Wilson Field.
The win lifts Davidson to 24-19 on the season, while High Point fell to 23-22 overall.
As the Wildcats outhit the Panthers, 21-14, shortstop Alec Acosta had a career night leading both teams with a 4-for-6 performance with four runs scored. First baseman David Daniels, who finished the night 3-for-4 with three RBI, continued his home run streak by pushing it to three straight games after a three-run homer in the sixth.
Two other 'Cats finished with three hits, including left fielder Ty Middlebrooks, who recorded a career-high five RBI as he picked up a three-run home run in the third for his second of the season.
Davidson recorded three or more runs in four of the five innings scored, including a five-run showing in the sixth off six hits and the first of two High Point errors on the night.
The Panthers got on the board in the eighth with four runs off five hits, including three doubles, but it was not enough to catch the 'Cats.
Seven Wildcats appeared on the mound for Davidson, including RHP Clark Beeker who pitched the first five innings and allowed only four hits for his sixth win of the season.
Eight Panthers threw for High Point, including RHP Carson Jackson who pitched the first 1.1 innings and allowed four runs off six hits for his first loss of the season.
The Wildcats will enjoy eight days off before capping off the regular season at home with a three-game A-10 series against Richmond starting Thursday, May 14, at 6 p.m.
