DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Behind the play of four players who went 2-0 on the day in singles, the Davidson men's tennis team ran their win streak to five straight with a doubleheader sweep over Limestone (7-0) and USC-Upstate (4-2) Saturday in the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center.

The Wildcats (6-3) five-match win streak is their longest since rattling off a six-match streak in 2013.

Shamael Chaudhry, Artem Khrapko, J.B. Gough and Jordan Hart all went 2-0 on the day in singles play, while Gough, Hart, Khrapko and David Hager each tallied a win in doubles play.

At No. 1 doubles, Gough and Hart improved to 4-2 on the season when they won a 6-2 decision over Limestone. Hager and Khrapko also moved to 4-2 with a 6-0 shutout at No. 2 in the morning match as well.

Chaudhry, the Atlantic 10 Rookie Performer of the Week the past two straight weeks, continued his outstanding start to his freshman year by running his singles win streak to eight straight after 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-2 victories at No. 1. The freshman is 8-1 at the top spot.

Right behind him was fellow classmate Khrapko, who also is having a great collegiate debut season. The Wildcats' No. 2 singles player won his sixth and seventh straight matches to move to 7-2 with solid 6-1, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-4 wins.

Gough and Hart moved their win streaks to six and four straight, respectively, after earning victories at No. 3 and 5 as well as No. 6. Gough needed a super tie-breaker win, 10-3, in the final set after splitting his first two by the same 6-4 scores against Limestone. Then in the afternoon matchup against USCU, the sophomore won a first-set tie-breaker, 7-6, and then rolled to a 6-0 win to run his record on the season to 7-2.

At No. 5 in the morning match, Hart tallied a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 and then closed out his day with a 6-4, 6-4 decision at No. 6 vs. the Spartans. With the two wins, the sophomore evened his overall record to 4-4.

Rounding out the winning day with singles wins was Hager and Alex Howard. Hager scored a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 4 for his first collegiate victory. Howard also got in the win column this year for the first time with a 7-5, 6-3 decision at No. 6.

Davidson turns around and hosts North Carolina A&T tomorrow for a 1 p.m. match.
