Wrestling Concludes Regular Season With Appalachian State

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson wrestling team will wrap up its regular season competition when the Wildcats host Appalachian State Sunday. Prior to the match, the Wildcats will honor its six graduating student-athletes in a Senior Day ceremony.
 
The Class of 2015
Prior to the match, Davidson will recognize its six graduating seniors – Anthony Elias, Philip Elias, Dan Hagemann, Ed Isola, Scott Patrick and Ian Solcz for their contributions over the past four seasons.
 
Headlock on Hunger 
The Davidson wrestling team will be supporting Headlock on Hunger, an initiative that aims to help provide food for children who are dealing with hunger at home. The team will be collecting canned food at all home matches. At the end of the season, the food collected will be brought to the Southern Conference Championship. 
 
About Davidson
Davidson will enter the match 6-13 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference action. Senior captain Ian Solcz leads the team with 15 wins at 197 pounds. Nathaniel Powers, the only other Wildcat to have 10 plus wins on the year, leads the squad with five falls, while Scott Patrick owns a 9-1 overall record and a 5-0 mark in conference action at 184 pounds.
 
Perfection
Senior Scott Patrick will carry a perfect 5-0 conference record into Sunday's match versus Appalachian State and can become the first Wildcat to ever go undefeated in SoCon action since Ian Kaplan. Kaplan finished the 1997-98 season 19-1 overall and 5-0 in conference matches at 150 pounds.
 
Last Time Out
Senior Anthony Elias registered his first pin of the season and Nathaniel Powers tallied a decision as the Wildcats fell, 36-9, to Southern Conference foe The Citadel Wednesday at McAlister Field House. Elias pinned Clarence Arrington at the 5:26 mark at 133 pounds, while Powers earned a 12-5 decision over William Connell at 174 pounds.
 
Last Time at Belk Arena
Davidson won a pair of home contests, defeating SoCon foe Campbell, 36-6, and Coker, 22-18. Nathaniel Powers and Scott Patrick each registered a pin, while the Wildcats used four sets of bonus points to secure the win against Coker. Eddie Isola, Anthony Elias, Dustin Runzo and Ian Solcz all picked up wins on the day.
 
Movin' On Up
Head Coach Bobby Patnesky became the second most winningest coach in Davidson wrestling history Feb. 15 after Davidson defeated Coker, 22-18, to notch his 60th career win.
 
Inside The Series – Appalachian State
Sunday's match will mark the 27th dual meet between Davidson and Appalachian State, as the Mountaineers lead the series, 26-1.
