Davidson Heads to UNCW Thanksgiving Tournament

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson will celebrate its Thanksgiving with a trip to Wilmington, N.C. where the Wildcats will take part in the UNCW Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Tournament Friday and Saturday. This is the third time the 'Cats will be taking part in the holiday tournament, with its last appearance coming during the 2009-10 campaign.

Both games will be streamed for free and can be found by clicking the link "Live Video" above to be directed to UNC Wilmington's website.

Friday's and Saturday's games for the Wildcats (2-2 on the season) will be the fifth and sixth out of seven straight road games to start the year.

OPENING TIP: Quick Hits ...
•Davidson is in its 37th season and reached the 400-win mark last year at Gardner-Webb.
•The 'Cats are in their second year in the Atlantic 10 after a 21-year run in the SoCon.
•The Wildcats were picked to finish 14th in the A-10 Coaches Preseason Poll.
•Davidson returns nine letterwinners and all five of its starters from last year's 5-25 team.
•Head coach Michele Savage is in her sixth year (81-83) and has never faced either BG or UNCW.

Last Game Out at High Point ...
•Davidson escaped High Point with a thrilling double-overtime win, 62-60, Tuesday night.
Hannah Early hit two free throws at 2:37 in the second OT and it proved to be the winning points.
Dakota Dukes had a huge outing: 22 points and 12 rebounds, both season highs, and set a personal-best with six blocks. It was her second straight double-double and the 12th of her career.
•Early had a double-double as well, 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Mackenzie Latt scored 14.

In-season Tournament History ...
•Davidson has a record of 27-36 during in-season tournaments since the 1992-93 season.
•The Wildcats have won six in-season tournament titles, with their most recent coming in 2010 at the USTA Thanksgiving Tournament where they had wins against North Texas and host USTA.
•Davidson's most recent in-season tournament was last year at the UVa. Holiday Classic.
•The 'Cats went 1-1 in that tourney, upsetting Virginia 67-57 before falling to Miami (OH), 59-58.

Early & Dukes Etching Names in the Wildcat Record Books ...
•Early became the 17th Wildcat to reach 1,000 points for a career last year at UMass.
•Her 74 three-pointers last year set a Wildcat single-season record as did her 211 attempts.
•All-time, she ranks 11th in points (1,100), fourth in total threes (171), fourth in three-point attempts, eighth in blocks (83), eighth in field goals attempted and 12th in field goals made.  
•Dukes sits in sixth and seventh, respectively, in free throws made and attempted, while ranking eighth in total rebounds with 579.
 
Random Notes ...
•The double-overtime win Tuesday was their second-ever in program history and just the third time they have gone to two extra periods.
•Davidson is opening the year on a seven-game road trip, the longest since an eight-game swing to open the 2009-10 season.
•The Wildcats had a season-high 55 rebounds at High Point, getting 17 on the offensive glass.
•Dukes' 22-point outing vs. HPU was the fifth time she has reached 20 points in her career.
•The senior ranks among the best in the Atlantic 10- 2nd in field goal percentage (.650) and blocks per game (2.5), and fifth in scoring (15.8) and sixth in rebounding (8.0).
•Dukes is 24 points away from 1,000 for her career as she has 976 total points.
•Latt's 11 double-doubles last year were fifth-most in a Wildcat season dating back to 1992-93.
•BG head coach Jennifer Roos will be facing her alma mater for the first time. She was inducted into the Davidson Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004-05. She was a three-sport star for the Wildcats.

•The Wildcats will be facing BG for the first time, while the series vs. UNCW is eight games old.
